A posthumous Frankie Knuckles single has been released.

‘Carefree (I Am A Star)’ features the late house legend on both production and vocals, and is the first single from the forthcoming ‘Jackmaster 7’ series.

The Jackmaster series launched in 1987 on DJ International with a compilation featuring Adonis, Chip E. and Todd Terry, and the new installment will feature a number of singles and remixes set to be released in the coming weeks. More details are set to be revealed soon.

In 2017, The Frankie Knuckles Foundation shared a video teaser of the legendary DJ and producer’s record collection, which is now housed inside Stony Island Arts Bank in Knuckles’ hometown of Chicago. The foundation was set up to protect Knuckles’ legacy and raise money and advocate for a variety of causes that were close to the legendary selector’s heart, including music in school, LGBTQ youth homelessness, diabetes research, and more.

In 2016, documentary Unsung: Frankie Knuckles and The Roots of House Music, was released, and featured interviews with many notable faces from the early days of house, including Frankie Knuckles, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Jesse Saunders.
