CARL COX & ERIC POWELL’S MOBILE DISCO: 10 ESSENTIAL TUNES

Carl Cox is a man who knows his disco. Despite making his name playing techno over the last three decades, the legendary selector has always had a penchant for ‘70s sounds, spinning disco, funk and soul sets annually at Burning Man and even famously jamming out a live Stevie Wonder cover in Ibiza.

Last Saturday (17th November) Coxy took the stage at Brisbane’s Roma Street Parklands alongside long-time pal Eric Powell for a whopping eight-hour session of disco and house, featuring live PAs from soul divas Ce Ce Peniston and Robyn S. The event also took place the previous day to a sell-out crowd in Victoria’s scenic Hunter Valley, before packing out the Brisbane parklands to the sounds of Earth Wind & Fire, George Benson, Jocelyn Brown, Gwen McCrae and many more.

It’s been another insane year for Carl Cox who was once again crowned the Highest Techno act poll in October. Cox also recently announced he is planning to rebuild Space Ibiza at a new location on the island in the near future, saying, “We have the idea of bringing Space back next year for maybe an opening and closing, but apart from that we are actually looking for a new area to build a new Space somewhere on the island.”

Jocelyn Brown ‘Somebody Else’s Guy (Original 12″ Mix)’

Ce Ce Peniston ‘Finally (12″ Choice Mix)’

Earth, Wind & Fire ‘Let’s Groove’

First Choice ‘Love Thang (Scott Tee Remix)’

Robyn S ‘Show Me Love’

Gwen McCrae ‘Keep The Fire Burning’

Gwen Guthrie ‘It Should Have Been You (Original 12′ Mix)’

Ce Ce Penison ‘We Got A Love Thang (Steve Silk Hurley’s Silky Dub Thang)’

Cheryl Lynn ‘Got To Be Real’

Alicia Myers ‘I Want To Thank You’
