High-end audiophile turntable manufacturers MoFi Electronics have introduced a new ‘entry-level’ model called StudioDeck. Priced at £995 (R17 000.00) , the new turntable features a 10-inch straight aluminum gimbaled bearing tonearm designed to “deliver the ideal balanced of rigidity and low tracking error”.

This price may not be considered entry-level to most, but MoFi’s reputation as high-quality turntable designers means this is likely to please even the most stubborn ear with MoFi explaining their “300 RPM stepped-pulley AC motor provides excellent speed stability for pitch accuracy and rhythmic drive”. For those whose budget may not stretch to this entry-level model, there are plenty of budget players to consider, including Pioneer DJ’s PLX-500 and Denon DJ’s Vl12 unit.
