Beastie Boys have announced a new greatest hits collection.
Serving as a “companion piece” to the Grammy-winning American hip-hop group’s Beastie Boys Book, released in 2018, and the more recent Beastie Boys Story from Spike Jonze, ‘Beastie Boys Music’ will be released on October 23rd via UMe.
The 20-track collection will be released digitally, on CD, and also as a vinyl box set, featuring hits like ‘(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)’, ‘Make Some Noise’, and ‘Intergalactic’.
You can pre-order the CD and vinyl here.
In 2019, ‘Paul’s Boutique’, ‘Ill Communication’, ‘the Root Down’ EP and ‘To The 5 Boroughs’ saw a reissue on coloured vinyl.
Last year, as part of our Solid Gold series, DJ Mag revisitsedthe rich sampling and undiluted fun of the Beasties’ cult classic second album, ‘Paul’s Boutique’.
A trailer has been released for the upcoming Beastie Boys documentary.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze, who has a long-standing partnership with the hip-hop outfit, the new documentary entitled Beastie Boys Story will be released in April.
The trailer has now been shared, which shows archive footage of the iconic trio, as well as previously unseen clips of surviving members Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz on stage.
Beastie Boys Story will follow the release of Jonze’s first photography book, Beastie Boys, which will be available on the 17th March, and features hundreds of photos taken by Jonze throughout the group’s career.
Watch the trailer for Beastie Boys Story below, which is slated for release on the 3rd April in a handful of IMAX cinemas, and marks the 26th anniversary of the group’s 1994 album, ‘Ill Communication’.
