Groundbreaking house music producer, DJ and record label head Moodymann (Detroit, US) will make his South African debut at the 2025 edition of LIGHTHOUSE X CTEMF in Cape Town on 22 February 2025

Moodymann (real name Kenny Dixon Junior,) began his career as a producer in the late 90s and has emerged as one of Detroit’s most distinguished and enigmatic house music makers.

Mastering a unique mix of samples and original instrumentation, Moodymann’s signature sound is anything but typical. Amalgamating soul, funk and jazz – he gathers the full force of his musical influences and recontextualizes them within the house music genre.

With a sound that ranges from slow and moody to upbeat and energetic, Moodymann’s skills and musicianship shine through on a catalog of classic releases on his own labels KDJ Records and Mahogani Music as well as revered imprints like Peacefrog and Planet-E.
